AEV Becomes First NHS Ambulance Manufacturer Approved for ACETECH ECO RUN & STURDY Systems

AEV has become the first and currently the only ambulance manufacturer supplying the NHS to receive Stellantis Letters of No Objection (LONOs) for both the ACETECH ECO RUN idle reduction system and the STURDY acceleration and speed control system on Fiat Ducato Stage 2 Type Approved vehicles. The approvals reinforce AEV’s commitment to delivering compliant, innovative and environmentally responsible emergency vehicle technology.

AEV is delighted to announce the successful receipt of two Letters of No Objection (LONOs) from Stellantis for the installation of both the ACETECH ECO RUN system and the STURDY acceleration and speed control system on the Fiat Ducato platforms operating under Stage 2 Type Approval.

These approvals represent a significant milestone for AEV and reinforce our commitment to delivering innovative, OEM-aligned vehicle technologies that meet the highest standards of engineering integrity, safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Following comprehensive technical assessment and validation, Stellantis has confirmed acceptance of both systems within the applicable vehicle homologation framework, providing a compliant and recognised route for installation on approved Fiat vehicle applications.

The ACETECH ECO RUN system is designed to reduce unnecessary engine idling, supporting improved fuel efficiency, lower operating costs, and reduced vehicle emissions. The STURDY system provides enhanced management of vehicle acceleration and speed parameters, helping fleet operators improve operational control, promote safer driving behaviours, and support fleet compliance objectives.

Both systems are requested under the DCA National Specification in driving the environmental sustainability and Innovation mandates set by the NHS. AEV is the first and currently the only ambulance manufacturer supplying to the NHS with such accreditation.

Obtaining approval for both technologies demonstrates AEV’s expertise in vehicle integration, technical validation and homologation expertise.
